The short answer
For exterior-only window cleaning, clear anything directly under the windows — potted plants, hoses, patio furniture, garden ornaments — and make sure gates are unlocked and pets are inside. For interior cleaning, also remove fragile items from sills, open a path to each window, and let the team know about any fixed furniture or delicate blinds. You don't need to move heavy furniture or take down blinds yourself.
Exterior visit
- Move pots, hoses, furniture and ornaments back from the base of the windows so the team can stand square to the glass.
- Unlock side gates and clear the path around the house.
- Bring pets indoors, and let the team know if a dog will be in the yard.
- Close windows fully the night before so tracks aren't wet.
Interior visit
- Clear sills of photo frames, candles, plants and anything breakable.
- Open a walking path to each window — the team will move light furniture, but a clear route speeds things up.
- Flag anything fixed, antique, or delicate (built-in seating, heirloom blinds, fresh paint).
- Decide where pets will be while doors are opening and closing.
What you don't need to do
Don't take down blinds or curtains, don't move heavy furniture, and don't pre-clean the glass. The team handles protection, access and the work itself.
