Screen cleaning: is it worth adding?

The cheapest way to undo a good window clean is to leave the screens dirty.

The short answer

In most cases, yes. A window screen collects a season of dust, pollen and pollen-glued grime, and a freshly cleaned pane behind a grey, loaded screen still reads as hazy from inside. Having screens removed, wet-washed, dried and re-seated on the same visit protects the result of the window clean and noticeably improves airflow on an open-window evening.

Questions

Screen cleaning: is it worth adding — quick questions.

Can screens be cleaned in place?

A dry brush-off in place helps a little, but it just moves dust around. A real clean means taking the screen out and washing it wet.

What if a screen is damaged?

We'll show you and leave it out rather than force it. Re-screening isn't a service we offer, but we can point you to someone who does it.
